I'm curious to see if this would look a little better with coloured outline (rather then black) and with a small amount of dithering...
You could also try a white outline around the piece.
I really like the animation though, it really adds to the piece and makes it something special~
I will try to see if antialiasing the edges are softer. I thought that using smooth pixels was cheating, but I see it is normal.
I'll try with a white outline. But only still images, because in animation might seem like a stamp.
The white outline is mostly just to make it stand out from the background really. I wouldn't say it'd look like a stamp if animated, but it might be more work if the animation is something very busy x)
See? no white outline because it is animated and looks very clean. I do not see the edges smooth. And it highlights a lot.
When I saw this animation without antialiasing thought it was better to work without antialiasing. But I'll take your advice into account.
